The hotel is positioned in three tourist markets: i.e. leisure, con- ference and maritime tourism. In 2000, 70% of the guests in Hotel Marjan were group visitors, 27% were individuals and 3% were sourced through tour operators. The hotel has increased its occupancy rate in the past year with 67% of the overnight stays in Hotel Marjan attributable to for- eign guests. In terms of nationality, 34% of the guests originate from Western Europe, 5% from United States, 4% from Canada and 4% from Israel. In 2001, the trend of continuing growth in tourist numbers is expected to continue. The company advertises mainly through tour operators and other promotional materials.
