Croatian tourism is based on quality, service and added value, joining tradition and physical beauty with originality providing tourists with an opportunity not only to sunbathe, but to live a true complex experience.
The long process of transformation of Croatian tourism into supply of sustainable, integrated, highly flexible and individual products ensuring that the local community keeps the income, will raise the tourist industry profitability, and in time, reduce the mass tourism, that is at the moment dominating the market and is considered to be the main culprit for low income and irrational management of natural resources.
Besides reinvestment initiatives, new domestic and foreign investments will be encouraged, as well as participation in the tourism industry, under the condition that these investments correlate to the goals of this strategy, and that domestic Croatian products, entrepreneurs, managers and employees are used and developed. That would ensure broader promotion of benefits for a picky consumer, and transformation of those to opportunities for Croatia on national and local levels. The State has to take the lead in these efforts, by reinvesting part of the tax revenue from tourism in order to improve tourist services: directly, through promotion, and indirectly, through investments in infrastructure.
Objectives for the future:
- Increase daily consumption per guest
- Triple the number of guests in the period October - May, by extending the tourist season
- Double the number of guest visiting sights further from the shore and staying there for more than one night
- Improve and develop long term capital resources, which tourism would directly benefit from.
Each tourist should go home from Croatia, enriched with and authentic, unique experience and keep the beautiful memories, enjoying the feeling that he/she was given high value for money, thinking about coming back to Croatia, thus becoming in his/her own community the promoter of Croatia: its nature, culture and products.
